對等連接詞

對等連接詞（主要是and, or 與but 三個）可用來連接句子中任何兩個
對等的部分（單字或片語），也可以連接兩個對等子句。所謂對等，指
的是構造與內容兩方面都要對稱、而且對得愈工整愈好。句子當中的
每一個元素，不論是主要元素還是修飾語，都可以利用對等連接詞而
放入兩個以上

對等連接詞有時候交待得不夠清楚，這時候可以動用對等連接詞的相
關字組（correlatives）來把話講得更清楚。例如：
He spoke to George and me.
他對喬治與我講話。
對等連接詞連接名詞George 與代名詞me，共同放在介系詞to 後面當
受詞、構成介系詞片語to George and me，用來修飾動詞spoke 的對象。
這種講法仍然有一點模糊：他到底是對喬治與我兩個人「一起」講話、
還是「分別」對喬治與對我講了兩次話？如果想要交待得更清楚，就
可以用上相關字組both … and：
He spoke both to George and to me.
這樣說就比較清楚了：他是「對喬治」講一次、「對我」又講一次。

Either he did not like our hairstyle, or we had offended him in some other way.
